Only Child Syndrome

My photo
The fact is this...I am a LATE thirty-something, an only child with one living parent and I hate, by the way, being an only child.

I am a drama queen and I know it, and I love it and I won't change it!

I am finally in a career that I love and I finally found someone special, just for me and my dramatic nature!

I am a horse lover. I love and ride Appaloosa horses.

I am and artsy-farts and love all aspects of the Arts and Culture. I am an Independent Stylist for Stella & Dot and love the jewels.

I have a dog who is my four legged baby, her name is Effie and I have another three legged baby and her name is Daisy.

Movie Critic Time...

Well the Oscars are around the corner.

I'm kinda rootin' for Milk.

I would root a little more for Benjamin Button, but I really don't like Brad Pitt that much. He has really turned me off since the whole Angelina thing happened. I am a HUGE fan of Cate Blanchett though....HUGE! She is one person I would love to meet.

I am also rootin' for Kate and Leo as well. Ahhhh, together again. "I'm king of the worrrrrld."

Remember when....

Do you remember Captain Caveman?
How about Shmoo!

Now I am really dating myself.

You must remember the Smurfs...how about the song Smurfing Beer? Iused to have all the Smurf records!

Shaun Cassidy and Da Doo Ron Ron.
The Partridge Family and The Fonz (who's now doing musicals).

Television programming at its best. Now adays, and don't get me wrong...I love Law & Order, but the original. Why do we need 5 CSI's and 4 Law & Orders and 2 Grey's Anatomy and 2 The Mentalists? Why?

What happened to Three's Company, Happy Day's, The Carol Burnett Show. Or, how about The Gong Show. Back then that was reality t.v!! Now its The Amazing Race, The Bachelor, The Sober House...what happened to us!!!

Saturday Morning t.v. was You Can't do that on Television. The Electric Company, The Smurfs....For Heavens Sake, The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show! Now, its considered violent!!! Are you kidding me?! Has any watched t.v. lately?!

Hee Haw! The Lawrence Welk Show, Welcome Back Kotter, Oh and let's not forget the one soap my grama never missed....The Edge of Night.

Where is Dallas? Now we get The Sopranos!

Bahhhh.

3:10 to Yuma

So, after the excitement...Legs and I finished watching the movie 3:10 to Yuma.

I am not a big western movie fan and I must say that I'm not the best person to watch a western with. I annoy those around me trying to watch westerns.

I am too busy looking at all the horses. Trying to figure out what breed that one is, what kind of bit is in the horses mouth and does it match the time period. Why they are using that saddle pad for that era, when clearly that type of blanket was not made yet. Didn't they do their research on that?

I look to see if any horses are lame. I look to see how many edits were done on one particular horse. If the snip on the nose is still the same horse that "buddy" used just moments ago. Stuff like that.

Russell Crowe and Christian Bale. Mah, they are not my favourites. Russell is a good singer though...I actually thought their roles should have been reversed. Russell should have played the dad and Christian, the bad guy. Guess that's why I am here doing what I am doing and not in Hollywood being thee director!!!

It was a long movie. The good guys and the bad guys could have finished each other off about 30 minutes before hand. I thought 3:10 was never gonna come.

Hancock

I am the type of person who NEVER goes anywhere by myself. I don't eat in a resturant by myself, nor do I go to an event by myself, or to the bar, or to a dance by myself.

I was told the other day by my boss who does do things on his own to try it. It is the only way of self discovery. So....I stepped out of my comfort zone and went to the movie....Not just any movie but to Hancock on Tightwad Tuesday and Tuesdays are packed!

I got back from the beach with Stifler's Mom about 8:30pm and was not ready to settle in for the night. I really wanted to see that particular movie and decided to go.

I drove up to the theater and parked in the lot and just sat there...was I doing the right thing? Can I do this at all? I thought I have to do this, so I gathered my things, locked the car and went inside. I was about 20 minutes early so I could bolt if need be....

I bought my ticket and stood in line. The ticket taker barked "Hancock number 4 is open", I thought I should go in right away so I wouldn't chicken out.

I went in and sat down and I was the ONLY one in there for about 15 minutes. Then 4 women walked in, then 2 teenage boys. The 4 women were about two rows up and across from me and they sounded like they were having a heck of a time. All of a sudden I heard "hey lady...come join us". I looked back and laughed. I got up and went over and sat with them. 4 of the funniest and nicest people I have met in a long time. By then 2 more people came in ......a total of 9.

This can't be. 9 people for a Will Smith movie....your shitting me! The movie starts at 25 past 9 and it is now 20 to 10. What the hell?

All of a sudden the masses came flooding through the door. There was a patron who had a seizure and they had to call the EMS to assist.

The masses sat down and the movie began.

Hancock is very funny. I really enjoyed Jason Bateman. It is really nice to see him acting again. Charlize Theron...one of my favourite actresses in the world, (besides Cate Blanchett) was in it and of course Will Smith. It was really good. There was a huge twist in it and when it happened we, the masses, all gasped and started to laugh. For those who have not seen it....I won't tell. It was really good and I am happy to have gone.

All in all, the lone movie experience was a good one. I enjoyed the company I was with, enjoyed the movie and I do believe that I will venture out on my own again.

Dark Knight....here I come!!!

The Happening

Movie Critic Time....

Yup, went to see it last night.

It was different. Marky Mark. Gotta say, I have seen better acting. If you want to think Marky boy is a great actor. I liked him much better in Planet of the Apes. Betty Buckley was in the movie. Kinda nice to see her. I think the last time I saw her was on an episode of Eight is Enough.....that my friends was a LONG, LONG time ago. She plays an eccentric woman living by herself in an uninfected area. Or so we think....

Anyway. I am glad it I saw it on Tightwad Tuesday and only paid 6 bucks to see it. It would have been a hard swallow if I would have had to pay 10 bucks. It truly is a renter.

Movie Gallery

I watched a few movies over the past few days and here are my thoughts on them...ahhh hem

No Country for Old Men....I HATED the ending!! I hate endings like that...just like the ending for Cast Away...just stupid. I like to see a conclusion. A means to an end. Over.

I did enjoy the movie, Anton was so evil. He gave me the creeps. I enjoyed the performance of Tommy Lee and Josh Brolin. Even Woody was good. But the end...tisk, tisk. However, the end did make sense. Just like the title, No Country for Old Men. It was fitting.

The Darjeeling Limited...Loved it. It was filmed in India and some parts were funny, some not so much. In whole I liked the way it all fit. It jumped around a bit but it all made sense in the end.

Death at a Funeral...A British Movie and it was a laugh-out-loud film. I'm not saying much more other than...you must see this movie. It was directed by Frank Oz. Need I say more?

Missed it by that much!

No...I missed it! I missed Most Haunted Friday night!

Instead I went to the bar to listen to a band.

They were really good and apparently I missed out on a music video which was shot earlier. I laughed my ass off when I found that out. The creepy little man came over to our table and informed us that we missed out on it. I almost peed myself. I asked him with what production company he was with and he wouldnt answer me. That's when I started to laugh. By this time I had a few under my belt so it didn't take much. He got offended when I started to quiz him. He then left us alone. I mean why tell us? What a dip!

Anyway, the rest of the night was great. I got home at 2am and promptly hit the sack. Church was tomorrow. No headaches for me!!

popcorn blues? pop blues?

I went to the movies last night with Moegirl and we saw Jumper. There is sure to be a sequel the way it ended. It was pretty good.

I went in with Diet Pepsi and buttered popcorn. Normally I have popcorn at home au naturel with salt and pepper. Last night however, I had to have butter. You can not go to the movies with no butter on your popcorn. It's just not right.

This morning, I woke up at 8 am headed to the farm to do chores and man did I feel like crap. I felt like I was hung over...not sure if it was the diet pop or the popcorn. I normally have orange crush with my popcorn but am thinking it was the diet pop that made me feel like crap. Ya, it was the diet pop. Im stickin to the orange crush from now on.

Going out with Legs

Last night I talked Legs into going to a movie. There was Rambo...do I really want to see Sly Stallone who is...I da know....75 years old running abound with a bandana on his head?!!? NO!

Do I wanna see 20 something Dresses...NO. Do I wanna see Cloverfield, shot in the stlye of the Blair Witch...NO! Do I wanna see P.S. I Love you?? HELL NO!

I do want to see Juno and I was really glad I did. I even liked the soundtrack.

We entered the movie theatre wondering which we might see. (Legs was wary of another chick flick, hell even I am not into chick flicks!) We walked into theatre #4 and there was this really odd music playing. I figured it was music from the sound track but wasn't sure. Once the movie started, sure enough, it was the soundtrack we were listening to. It was great.

Juno is a must see.

Ahhhh George
